Michael Cassidy Not To Continue With Privileged
Hey friends! I just came across this news article according to which Privileged star Michael Cassidy will be bidding farewell to the show. The show which has been a runaway hit, will be witnessing its first casting problem. According to reports, Michael was not being used well on the show and it has also been rumored that his character was hindering the storyline from moving forward, which is the reason behind his sudden departure. Another reason behind his departure has been said to be the budget of the series as the actor wanted more money per episode and since the show needed to make budget cuts or the show wanted to bring in a new character and find money to pay the said character, they dropped a costlier Michael. Whatever be the reason all Michael’s fans including me, are really sad to hear this news.
For those of you who don’t know, Michael played the role of Megan’s long time friend Charlie on the show. It was speculated that ultimately he and Megan will get together which is not now possible and is cause of another disappointment amongst the fans. Michael is to remain on the show till the airing of the fifteenth episode. It is not yet known exactly how the character of Charlie will depart from the show though it is rumored that he might confess his love to Megan during one of the episodes and then decide to go back to college in San Diego.
I have been watching the show from the day it was first aired and although I love the character of Charlie, I don’t think his departure will affect the show in the negative sense. Now before you get me wrong, let me explain. Although Charlie is Megan’s best friend and will always be there to support her, he will never persuade her to move forward. So even if the two got together, their relationship will soon reach a stagnation point which will take the charm out of the show. So I think in the end the show will ultimately benefit by Charlie’s departure.
